As we enter July you may wonder where our summer is, so do I. In spite of this our pace of play remains good with a few exceptions. Your Board has addressed a few issues found further in this newsletter regarding " holing out putts " and " improving lies " while not a huge problem it is one we all need to be aware of to retain the integerty of the game and be fair to all who play. A big thanks to Terry Richardson our Board Member in charge of Scholarships for selecting a most worthy young man to recieve our yearly scholarship who is very deserving of our support. A gentle reminder to all to repair divots and one more as I am noticing a bigger than usual amount of divots as I play with my group on Weds mornings. Only takes a minute to do so. I want to encourage all our members who have not served in a Board position to consider doing so and contribute to the largest and best Senior Mens Club in the County. In a few months we will begin the search for new Board Members, if you are willing to serve please let me or any Board member know. Fairways and Greens. |

Greetings RRSR Hackers, Slicers, Hookers, Shankers. I have been told that our crusade to have all members play by the same rules, by holing all putts, no matter how short, has had a positive effect among the membership. And now I have been told that we need to convince some members not to improve the position of their ball by "bumping" the ball. When this problem exists, it has to be dealt with in your foursome, as you are the one that sees this lack of integrity. It does no good to expect a board member to deal with a rules violation that you see happen. I would suggest, when you see this occur, immediately tell the person he has incurred a two stroke penalty, and must also place the ball back in it's original position. It is up to everyone to protect the rest of the membership from some cheater in your group that feels he is entitled to a perfect lie each time, and is trying to gain a unfair advantage over you and everyone else. The cheater will say, "Oh, everyone does it." But you and I know this is not true. YOU can fix it. |
