Tournament Cancelled due to Rain!!!!

At the board meeting held Wednesday, March 3rd, it was decided that, with GHIN updating handicaps twice a month, it won’t be necessary to implement my handicapping scheme.  Both Chuck Underwood and Mike Wright will be sending me the results of our Wednesday matches and I will then access GHIN to make sure the correct scores have been posted.

One note of concern that has been expressed to me is that some golfers may not be ADJUSTING their scores so that a "disaster hole", that we all get once in awhile, does not skew the handicaps upward.  You need to familiarize yourselves on the maximum strokes you can take on a par 3, 4 or 5 hole and then ADJUST the score you post.

Looks like we enter March "like a Lion" will it go out "like a Lamb"? At our last Board meeting we appointed Terry Richardson as the 9th. Board member. Terry has agreed to be our Scholarship Chairman and has already contacted local high schools to adsvertise to Seniors in their golf program that RR Senior Mens Golf Club is offering a $1,000 golf scholarship to a deserving graduating senior. We are one of four clubs in Ventura County offering such a scholarship to aspiring golfers. We will also be supporting  RiverRidge teaching Pro Jon Gomez with a $300 donation to his program that brings golf to dis-advantaged kids under the direction and in conjunction with the First Tee Program of Ventura County. These programs are of great value and the members of RR Senior Mens GC are proud to support such worthy causes. Our pace of play on Weds. continues to be better than average with very few problems noticed by the RR staff. The first general meeting and luncheon will be on April 21st. and we will have Bob Buttitta of the Star with us as a guest. I have asked Bob to give a short presentation and i'm sure he will address the Tiger Wood thing from a sportswriters perspective. Please remember to fill divots and fix greens and maybe Kyle will be a little more attentive to flag placement, till then " fairways and greens".

Greeting River Ridge Senior Slicers, Hookers and Shankers. Membership count: 166. Still the biggest and best Senior Club. Your board has been busy with your $1000 Scholarship Award. You will being giving this money to a local high school boy or girl senior golf team member for a little help with their two or four year college expense. This money comes from the $1 that you put in the slot for our Hole in One prize. Half of the $1 goes to the Hole in One Fund, which now has over $900, and the other half of the $1 goes to the Scholarship Fund, which now has $1000. We also take some of the $$ from the membership meeting raffle for the Scholarship Fund. Thanks to all for your help with this money. I have been working with Terry Richardson, your new Board Member and Scholarship Chairman, to contact the local schools and make them aware of our program. This program was copied from the Buena Senior Club, who have been doing it for several years. This year Saticoy Seniors, and Olivas Links Men's Golf Club (not the senior club) are also doing it along with us and Buena. This is great PR for our club and a little help for some students
